About This Service

The Heart of Every Great Backyard

Nothing pulls people together like fire. There's something ancient and magnetic about sitting around an open flame — it quiets phones, starts conversations, and turns an ordinary Tuesday night into a memory. A fire pit or fire table isn't just a backyard feature. It's the place where your family spends its best evenings.

At LiveFirePros, we design and build custom fire features for every kind of outdoor space — from compact patio fire tables to sprawling stone fire pits that anchor an entire yard. We work with homeowners across North County San Diego, greater San Diego, Orange County, and Temecula Valley to create fire features that match their home's architecture, their entertaining style, and Southern California's year-round outdoor lifestyle.

Our gas fire pits are the most popular choice for homeowners who want clean, controllable flame at the push of a button. Connected to your home's natural gas line or a dedicated propane tank, a gas fire pit delivers instant fire without the smoke, ash, or constant tending of wood. They're ideal for smaller patios, covered seating areas, and anywhere you want to enjoy fire without the hassle.

Wood-burning fire pits are for the purists — the families who love the crackle, the smoke, and the ritual of building a fire from scratch. We construct wood-burning pits with proper drainage, heat-resistant materials, and code-compliant setbacks so you can enjoy a real campfire experience in your own backyard without worry.

Fire tables combine function and style in one piece — a flat surface for drinks and plates surrounds a central flame trough, giving you both a gathering point and a usable table. We build fire tables in rectangular, round, and custom shapes using materials like polished concrete, natural granite, porcelain, and powder-coated steel.

Every fire feature we build is engineered for Southern California's climate. That means UV-stable materials, corrosion-resistant hardware, proper drainage for winter rains, and finishes that look as good in year five as they do on day one. We also handle all gas line routing, ignition systems, and safety shutoffs so everything works reliably and safely.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

If your home has a natural gas line nearby, we recommend tapping into it — you'll never run out of fuel, and there's no tank to refill or hide. Propane is a great alternative when running a gas line isn't practical or cost-effective. Propane fire pits can use a concealed tank below the unit, and they produce a slightly warmer flame. During our consultation, we'll assess your gas availability and recommend the best option for your setup.

Gas fire pits are very low maintenance. We recommend cleaning the burner and fire glass or lava rock once or twice a year, checking the ignition system at the start of each season, and covering the unit when not in use to prevent debris buildup. Wood-burning fire pits need ash removal after each use and occasional inspection of the stone or steel for heat damage. We'll give you a detailed care guide specific to your fire feature at the walkthrough.

Local fire codes in San Diego and Orange County typically require a minimum of 10 feet of clearance between an open-flame fire pit and any combustible structure — that includes your house, fence, pergola, and overhanging trees. Gas fire pits with approved covers may have reduced setback requirements. We handle all code compliance during the design phase so your fire feature is placed safely and legally.

Every fire pit we build includes proper drainage so water doesn't pool in the burner area. We use marine-grade stainless steel burners, weather-resistant fire glass, and UV-stable stone and concrete finishes. We also recommend using a fitted cover when the fire pit isn't in use — this protects the burner, keeps debris out, and extends the life of your finish materials. Our fire features are built to live outside year-round in Southern California's climate.

A fire pit is typically a lower, open design — either sunken into the ground or raised slightly — with seating arranged around it. A fire table is a higher, table-height structure with a flat surface surrounding the burner, giving you a place to set drinks, plates, and décor. Fire tables are great for dining areas and smaller patios where space is tight. Fire pits create a more campfire-like atmosphere and work well as the centerpiece of a large seating area. We build both and can help you decide which fits your space best.
